Our Indian Rhino calf has passed away. The calf died at approximately 7:15 p.m. Zoo staff was with the calf at the time, and attempted to resuscitate again, without success. It has been an emotional day and we are all sad that the baby did not make it.
This is really sad news. We are sorry for this loss. We were looking forward to seeing the little one grow.

After watching her on the camera for weeks and anticipating the birth, I am so saddened to hear that the baby passed away. But with the loving staff by the calf’s side makes it’s passing more tolerable. I am so sorry for the loss of such an amazing animal. My heart goes out to your staff and to the mother.

I was hoping this one would make it since the last didn’t, but it’s sad because I’ve been keeping up with the news. I’m wondering if you are going to try to inseminate her again. It will be wonderful news after this sad event. I will keep up with it. I’m very sorry.
