This Saturday, November 13, locations around Hamilton, Clermont and Warren Counties will be offering free medicine waste disposal. Help keep our waterways clean by disposing of these medicines safely, rather than flushing them down the toilet or tossing them in the regular trash. Acceptable items include:
- Prescription medications
- Over-counter-medications
- Medication samples
- Medications for pets
- Vitamins
- Medicated ointments and lotions
- Inhalers
- Patches
- Liquid medications in glass or plastic leak proof containers
Unacceptable items include:
- Needles, syringe
- Thermometers
- IV bags
- Aerosol cans
- Bloody or infectious waste
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Business waste
- Empty containers
- Personal care products (nonmedicated shampoo, etc)
Residents can drop off their unwanted or expired medicines off on Saturday, November 13 from 10am until 2pm.
I read an article about how old and expired medicines are many times flushed or put down the drain. The article talked about how the levels of different types of drugs are raising in the water supply. This leads me to a thank you for providing a service like this. It helps the community in a very healthy way.
