Ever since the Cat House officially closed on November 1, the wrecking crew has been hard at work ripping out carpet, tearing down walls, and removing old signs and interactives. I put on my sturdy construction hat and went down to check out the progress.
So what have I been doing while all this destruction is taking place? Planning for the new exhibit interpretives, of course! Right now I’m identifying particular animal sounds for the night noises soundtrack that will play in the front half of the new exhibit. Check back soon for another update!
Shasta,
Where are the cats being housed while the construction is taking place? Have they been moved to other zoos or somewhere else in our zoo? I’m excited to see the new exhibit, but a little sad also. The cat house has always been one of my family’s favorite places and with the very recent passing of one of our own beloved felines, it will be a change to adjust to. Thanks for showing us the progress!
Hi Deanna,
Good question! Most of the animals have moved into temporary homes in behind-the-scenes areas around the Zoo, and a few have been transferred to other institutions.
It’s nice to hear that your family is so fond of the Cat House. I hope that the newly renovated exhibit will top your list of favorites once it opens in the spring.
Thanks, Shasta
