After a LONG process of sifting through more than 4,000 names from all over the world, the Cincinnati Zoo has narrowed the field down to three. It certainly was a TALL task for the Zoo’s giraffe keepers, but they agreed on three finalists: “Zuri” (Beautiful), “Mara” (Spotted) and “Nya” (Purpose).

I think she is so cute. I liked the name for beautiful but she is more “cute” than beautiful-and Mara means spotted and that fits her. I couldn’t find the meaning of purpose just by looking at her. So Mara….
