The Cincinnati Zoo was recently rated the #1 attraction locally and one of the top zoos in the nation by Zagat Survey. It was recognized by Parents Magazine as #7 on the “Top 10 Best Zoos for Kids.” Over one million people visit the Zoo’s award-winning exhibits, and more than 500 animal and 3000 plant species annually.
The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is home to animals, plants, keepers, educators, scientists, conservationists, photographers, horticulturists, designers, writers, creative thinkers, interns and volunteers! Most staff members are here because we are passionate about the Zoo’s mission. This blog allows us to share our passion using various methods of expression.
I love Cincinnati

There aren’t words to express how wonderful I think all of you are who have put your heart and souls into saving this precious little one. And Fiona has given me something to look forward to every day and a reason to smile every day. She just melts my heart and in these trying times, that adorable face and pudgy little body bring in such a ray of sunshine. Between Fiona doing better and April the giraffe in labor, my heart is going to explode! Sending lots of love and good wishes for Fiona’s continued progress and strength and guidance to her care team! Love you guys!

Just read The Reunion Blog , Thank you …. it helps to understand all that your working on and how things are turning out. I appreciate any organization that is working with the animals of the world and their continued existence . My whole family want to know what I have learned about how Miss Fiona is doing, how her relationship with Mom and eventually Dad is going. We live in Indianapolis and I so much love our Zoo, use to come to the Cincinnati Zoo often but we do not travel as much as we use to … so keeping up with your progress through this is wonderful … Thank all of you for what you do , I understand in a smaller way as all of our cats and dogs have been rescues through the years at one time we had 7 cats 3 dogs which was a bit heck with teenagers and both of us working but we all learned a lot from it.. again thank you for what you do
Fiona has made me at least admit that there is a state, that is Under the GREAT STATE of MICHIGAN! I enjoy watching her development and interaction with her Human Helpers and Bibi her Mom. Plus the Lil Girl does have a bit of attitude. That is kinda Cool.

Everyday I go to your FB page for my Fiona, Bibi, and Henry fix! Such a wonderful Happy story! Thank you all for sharing and for all that you do for the animals you serve!

For those of you that like series books there is a series by Michael C. Grumbly called Breakthrough. Starting in the second book the author brings in a three year old gorilla named Dulce. The author seems to have done his research on both dolphins and gorillas.
Can you please post more about Henry’s illness: does he still get in the water, is he just laying still, can he stand, is he drinking fluids. It’s hard to pray and wonder more about his condition? I envision his condition by just your comment that he is ill and not eating! Please. I’M wondering what you do to get nutrition/food in him? Does Bibi spend time with him?

Awww im so sad for henry and the girls. I hate to hear this.
I ask the Universe to hold Henry in safe and tender care, and that all our love hold up his spirit. I ask for guidance for Henry’s caring medical staff that they are led to the very best decisions for this wonderful animal. Peace be to all who are able to help creatures, often foregoing personal needs, and I’m so thankful that we have such a Zoo here in Cincinnati that cared so deeply for a tiny baby hippo, allowing her to know and be taught, guided and loved by both her parents. Thank you, Thane!
Thank you for all the updates on our girls! Big thanks for keeping us informed during the winter months! Looking forward to all the pictures and Videos! Have a fabulous Thanksgiving everyone! Cheers!
